Glossybox November 2012

Not a bad box considering their recent price 'adjustment'. Pleased to receive the sugar scrub, blush and nail polish (such a pretty colour!). Enough with the shampoo/conditioner duos and handcream, glossybox! So boring! I hate the lipgloss though, what am I going to do with a yellow glittery lipgloss? I'm not 13 anymore.
Will have to see where this box goes...

Beauty Box 5 November 2012

My thoughts

Wasn't that impressed with the box to be honest, but it is still a useful box. I like the eyeshadow, it's a gorgeous glittery brown colour but when I tried it on, there was quite a bit of fall out. Still, I was happy to receive brown, as some girls got purple/blue and that is way too bright for me!

I am yet to try the eye mask, not too sure what its purpose is but i'll give it a try soon. I tried the face primer and it is pretty awesome! Comparable to Smashbox's Photo Finish Primer! May repurchase in the future! The cetaphil lotion was good. Absorbed quickly but not a very exciting product to me. I didn't like the lipgloss though: it is too sticky. I received it in a previous Glossybox and although it smells fantastic (strawberry-esque), I don't like lipglosses at all. So, I hope to be able to sell/trade this with someone. Finally, I took a look at the website and as anticipated, the necklaces were quite pricey. However, I was able to buy my Secret Santa gift to my coworker, and ordered this necklace for her. Hopefully she will like it. Anyway, I cancelled BB5. Although this was my first box, I need to chill out and stop spending money on these boxes. I have 5 to come in December!

Julep Introductory Box - Bombshell

This week I received my introductory box from Julep! Guess how much I paid? 1 penny plus $3.99 for shipping. After taking a quiz online, I chose the bombshell intro box as I was attracted to the colours. After approximately 12 days, I received the box all the way from Seattle!

 

 I received Gloria, Viola, Julep Essential Cuticle Oil and two pots of glitter for the nails. I sampled both colours tonight and I liked Viola. It is a deep, dark purple which appears almost black. I didn't like Gloria that much though. It was just your average pink colour. I am excited to try the glitter though. 

After this first box, I don't know if I would pay full price for Julep monthly. Usually, it is $20 for three polishes, plus a bonus item or two. If you want your introductory box for 1 penny, use the promo code COLOR2012. Don't forget to use 6257251 as the invitation code! 

Topbox November 2012

I've recently became a big fan of beauty boxes. I have signed up for 5 different boxes (having a credit card,the internet, and an addiction made my balance go way down) and intend on posting reviews for each for these boxes.

In case you are not familiar, Topbox is a subscription beauty box. Each month, we are sent 4 samples of deluxe products. The beauty of this service is that it allows you to try new things, without the hefty price tag involved. If you like a product, then you know you can buy the full size product on their online store or other places.

Topbox has just become $12 monthly, or $13.56 with tax and shipping included. They JUST increased their price, unfortunately, and for the past year they were $10 monthly, or $11.30 with tax and shipping. Fortunately, this $2 price increase is not substantial, and the variety of products they deliver has proven to be worth it the increase. This months box is the last box priced at $10.

 Overall, I was very pleased with this months box. I have been curious to try this mascara, and the nail polish and perfume duo is such an interesting idea! I don't have that colour of polish so I'm glad to receive it. The lotion also seems awesome. It has such cute packaging and the ingredients seem toxin-free.

Value: Nailpolish and perfume: $24.50 + Mascara (full size: $29 for 8.5 g. Sample size: 3 g) + $10.23 + Lotion (Full size = $18.95 for 240 g. sample size: 24 g) + 1.90 = $36

Great value, although this is additional information for you guys. I am more interested in the quality of the products as opposed to 'worth'.

What did you get in your box?

50 shades of grey rant - *spoilers*

Holy. Shit. 
My initial reaction after completing the first book in this trilogy. The book was every bit as steamy as everyone has been saying. I wasn't planning on reading it, but my supervisor at work raved about this book which encouraged all my fellow co-workers and I to read it also.

So, while this book was well written and every girls fantasy (who doesn't fantasize about some good looking billionaire to pick us out and shower us with gifts?), it had its flaws. #1 IT REMINDED ME SO MUCH OF TWILIGHT IN SOME PARTS. *~spoiler alert*~ How?

1. Christian Grey is drop-dead gorgeous, impeccably rich, dark and mysterious. Remind you of anyone?
2. Christian buys Ana so many gifts, including a cell phone, a lap top, a fancy car, expensive first edition of books... etc. the list goes on
3. She is some bumbling awkward woman who TRIPS over herself and shows a remarkable amount of clumsiness
4. She drives a really old car, one Christian claims to be 'dangerous' which is why he sees fit to buy her a new car, against her complaints

The similarities were cringe-worthy. No-one wants to be reminded of Twilight while reading the feminine substitution for porn. That is what annoyed me about this book.
Otherwise, it was a good book. I need to get my hands on the second one which is being passed around at work as well. We'll see how that goes.

BTW, HI GUYS! Long time no see! Maybe some photos will come soon but I don't try with clothes much these days.. or my hair. I recently cut it shoulder length to rid myself of those nasty split ends.. and looks-wise, I only really try to dress nicely for parties. I am suddenly lazy.
So back to the main topic - What did you think of this book?
P.S. They are making a movie and trying to decide who Christian and Anastasia should be. My opinion? Ian Somerhalder and Amanda Seyfried. Duh! They would just be so hot together.

The last nine months...

Hello everyone! I cannot BELIEVE when the last time I posted was.. December last year!
Let's just say SO much has happened in this time frame. I am two weeks away from moving to another town, starting my first year at university and rooming with my best friend!
Pictures say 1000 words, so I'll post to summarise my last 9 months!

These last few pictures are from my prom! That's my boyfriend and I... sew cute and stuff.
Anyway, I am going to go back to watching Heathers!
